Important Update for Our Champaign and Logan County Partners

Date: June 15, 2026

COMMUNICATION TO NORTH COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Subject: Important Updates on Crisis Services and other TCN provided services in Champaign and Logan Counties

Hello Community Partners:

You may have already received a letter from MHDAS notifying you of their decision that TCN will no longer be the contracted provider for their Board region as of July 1, 2026. TCN wants to thank you all for the outpouring of support we have received with this decision. We also would like to thank the MHDAS board for their many years of funding support to TCN and the partnership in serving our mutual clients in the communities.

TCN has physically been in this community since our acquisition of Consolidated Care in 2019, and prior to that Consolidated Care was the long-term provider of comprehensive services for decades before the defunding from the Board. Some of you have expressed concern that this decision comes in the middle of a levy year, and that is true. Mental Health, Substance Use, and other wrap- around services such as recovery housing are needed now more than ever as we have seen our client and service numbers grow year after year. We are still here to help. We want to dispel any rumors that we will no longer be in this community or providing services. We are committed to this community, and we will continue to provide the same relational based services that you have come to expect from TCN. For us, it is business as usual in this region, and 90% of TCN’s client base were not board funded. You therefore will see minimal impact as a community partner for services that are not board funded. The only change you may see is our location in West Liberty as that is subject to the Board’s renewal approval since the Board is our landlord. We have not received any notice of their intent to non-renew the July 1st lease agreement, and we will continue to keep you apprised. Otherwise, TCN is fully open in both our Urbana and Bellefontaine physical locations with no plans for exiting this community.

The Board’s new contracted service provider is Coleman. TCN has a relationship with Coleman through our 988 hotline and its MRSS mobile dispatch for Youth. Coleman is another behavioral health agency, and TCN is pleased to welcome them into our communities. We look forward to a continued working relationship across our communities to service the needs of the clients.

One important item that TCN would like to make you aware that is ending is the local hotline for the MHDAS board region. This funding from MHDAS was exhausted as of May 21, 2026. In line with the defunding decision, TCN is confirming that the local 24-Hour Crisis Line forChampaign and Logan Counties, 1-800-224-0422, will end on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026. In keeping with our ongoing commitment to the community, TCN has provided these services, including on-call crisis and this line free of charge since May 21, 2026, to allow for a transition plan; however, TCN has not received any information on if or when there are plans to re-establish a new number for the community or how local crisis will be handled. We encourage you to reach out to the local board if you need further clarification. In the meantime, TCN wants to remind our community partners of our 988 center as a resource.

  • If you are in crisis and need help, you can reach us through the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling 988.

  • If you prefer to text or chat using 988, please click here for more information.

  • If you are a community member and need assistance to coordinate on behalf of someone who needs help, now that the crisis line is unavailable, you can reach us through the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling 988.

  • If you need assistance in coordinating Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) for youth and/or adolescents, you can access the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling 988, as Ohio’s 988 serves as the primary access point for MRSS. You can learn more about our state’s initiatives regarding Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) for youth and/or adolescents and 988’s role by clicking here.

  • While the process for reaching us is slightly changing, TCN’s commitment to Logan and Champaign Counties’ citizens and community partners is unwavering. We have continued to provide the most comprehensive behavioral services in this community for three decades

The impact of this telephone number change affects only our Champaign and Logan County service areas. Callers to the Champaign and Logan County Crisis Line will now be directed to call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, from where we will work with you and assist you with your needs. You may contact MHDAS for information on future plans for the area as it relates to a local hotline number for citizens, law enforcement, and other key stakeholders.

Moving Forward

TCN continues to maintain our full continuum of client care and support of our community partners through our offices, where all TCN services will continue to be accessible both in person and via telehealth. This includes our community support services (case management) which occurs in the community, our full residential and recovery continuum for substance use services, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), and all of our Outpatient services including both Adult and Youth psychiatry (in your community), Mental Health Services for both adult and youth, and Substance Use services. We also have additional physical offices in Fairborn, Xenia, Troy and Kettering, Ohio to serve you if needed. As this agency has done for the last three decades in Champaign and Logan County, TCN Behavioral Health is here today, and we will be here tomorrow.

We understand you may have questions and concerns. We invite you to reach out directly to Chief Operations Officer Julie Ayers at (937) 376-8736 or jayers@tcn.org.
